Daniel 4:1-37

In this lesson we see God’s response to sinful pride.

THE REASON FOR THE STORY

  1. A Universal Statement

Nebuchadnezzar says that his testimony is to all people and nations and languages that dwell in all the earth. (verse 1).

  1. A Personal Statement

Nebuchadnezzar is not talking about what God did in someone else’s life, or what  he remembers about some activities in his youth. He is reviewing what God has done with him in the immediate past.(verse 2).

  1. An Enthusiastic Statement

Nebuchadnezzar wanted to tell the whole world his story, to announce to everyone what God had done for him. He summarizes his heart-attitude toward God. (verse 3).

THE RECEPTION OF THE DREAM

Nebuchadnezzar then describes how he was at home in his palace one day when he had a disturbing dream.

THE REPETITION OF THE DREAM

The next moment he was reduced to an animal with the mind of a beast. (verses 31-33)
